Laurie Ingram
Laureen “Laurie” Ingram is owner and publisher of The Independent. The weekly magazine has chronicled Kansas City history and social and cultural events for the past 112 years. Before purchasing the magazine in 1996, she owned an imprinting business and worked for many years managing and co-owning a wholesale importing business.
For more than 15 years, she has actively served on executive boards for cultural and philanthropic organizations and has chaired many successful galas and fundraisers for those groups. These include the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, University Academy, Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City Hospice House, Coterie Theater, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and numerous others. She also serves on Rockhurst University’s Board of Regents and the Kansas City Library Foundation Board.
She and her husband, Robert “Chip” Ingram III, have three children at home.
