Avoid heaping helpings during the holidays

Enjoying holiday meals can be difficult, especially when you're watching your weight. Every year we hear the same old thing: Make only one trip to the buffet. Stop eating when you're full. Munch on fruits and veggies instead of desserts. Yeah, yeah. It's way easier said than done! Here are two alternative ideas for holiday feasting.

Eat with awareness

Enjoy only your favorite holiday flavors, and avoid take-it-or-leave-it foods. For example, maybe you're not fond of stuffing or candied sweet potatoes, but you really love mashed potatoes and gravy with ham or turkey. Choose the foods you love. Just don’t overdo it.

Walk before eating

Few things improve the appetite like a brisk walk. Bundle up and take a walk with your family before eating. Quite honestly, after you've burned calories walking and talking, everything will taste better.
